Welisa DocGen documentation
Generate PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents from any Salesforce record, and collect legally valid e-signatures — all inside your own Salesforce org. Built and supported by Welisa.
welisaCurrent version 1.1.0Runs inside your Salesforce orgBuilt-in e-signaturesWhat Welisa DocGen does#
Welisa DocGen is a native Salesforce document-generation engine. You author a template — in Word, in Google Docs or any HTML tool, in the in-app designer, or on a blank canvas — drop in merge tags such as {Name} or {#OpportunityLineItems}…{/OpportunityLineItems}, and Welisa DocGen renders the finished file from the record's data. Everything runs inside your Salesforce org, with the record sharing and field-level security your users already have.
| Build with | Render to | Pull data from | Run from |
|---|---|---|---|
Word (.docx) — fully supported | Any record: Account, Opportunity, Case, custom objects | The record page (one click) | |
| HTML — Google Docs, Notion, any HTML source | DOCX | Multi-level parent lookups ({Account.Owner.Manager.Email}) | The Bulk Generation tab (thousands of records) |
| Canvas — designed in the browser, positioned to the inch | Child relationships at any depth, many-to-many junctions | Salesforce Flow (every operation has an action) | |
| Fillable PDF (AcroForm field mapping) | Classic approval history | Apex (welisa.DocGenService) | |
PowerPoint (.pptx) — alpha | PPTX | External APIs or computed values through an Apex data provider | A public site for external signers |
Excel (.xlsx / .xlsm) — alpha | XLSX / XLSM | JSON handed in from a Flow |

Highlights#
- Every tag type in one place. Field merges with date, currency, number and percent formatting; loops that expand table rows automatically;
{#GroupBy}for one table per category;{#IF}conditions with AND/OR/NOT; SUM/COUNT/AVG/MIN/MAX aggregates; images, shared assets, barcodes and QR codes; nine chart styles rendered as real images;{@Signature_…}placements. See the merge tag reference. - Two authoring surfaces inside Salesforce. The Visual Designer edits an HTML template on a real page canvas, WYSIWYG or source. The Canvas designer lets you place boxes to the inch for certificates, forms and invoices with fixed layouts. See Templates.
- Large datasets without thinking about it. Records with 2,000 to 50,000+ child rows are detected automatically and rendered in the background through the same Generate button. See Limits.
- E-signatures that hold up. Guided field-to-field signing on the rendered PDF, drawn or typed, email PIN verification, sequential or parallel signers, document packets, reminders, a Certificate of Completion with SHA-256 document hash, and a public verify page. Optional DocuSign routing for clients who own DocuSign. See E-signatures and Signature providers.
- Your data never leaves Salesforce. Generation, rendering, charts and signing are pure Apex and Lightning. The only outbound connection the package makes is a nightly licence check that carries the org's identity and no business data.
Who this documentation is for#
- Salesforce administrators and template authors in a client organisation: everything from Installation through Troubleshooting applies to you directly.
- Welisa consultants who install, configure and upgrade Welisa DocGen for clients: start with Installation, E-signature setup and Upgrading.
- Developers who automate it: Flow automation and the Apex API.
The product's user interface is in English; the document runner also follows each user's Salesforce language (Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese). API names in a client org carry the welisa__ prefix (for example welisa__DocGen_Template__c); this documentation writes them that way where it matters and without the prefix inside merge tags, where no prefix is ever used.
